Today my topic is “The Precious Gift”. This gift is not a material thing, but a secret, a secret to be successful.
I got this idea from a book written by Spencer Johnson.
He says a young man is not satisfied with his present job, because he is so busy everyday but still cannot get enough money to live on. He is unhappy, he wants to leave this job but he is also afraid of finding a new job, after all, it’s difficult to hunt a good job nowadays. So he goes to a rose garden to ask for some help from a millionaire. Instead of giving him some specific way to become rich, the millionaire tells him the importance of trusting oneself. If you want to get something, you must believe that you have the ability to get it.
Yes, that is the very gift the young man finally gets which will help foster him to be a rich man.
From the passage we know, if you want to be successful, there’re 3 rules:
Firstly, we must have a definite object. If we don’t know what we really want, we will certainly get nothing. If we set the aim in our heart, we’ll struggle for it without any hesitation, because hesitation always wastes our precious time and energy.
Secondly, we should believe in ourselves when we do anything. In Spencer Johnson’s book, that young man wants to be a millionaire. But he doesn’t believe he can achieve this goal, he thinks he has no ability to earn so much money. He doesn’t want to seek change in his life. And if he doesn’t change, he’ll never change himself into a rich man.
Lastly, don’t be cheated by false appearance of all kinds of phenomena and set up favorable psychological suggestion. Always tell ourselves that things couldn’t be better, we can do anything we want to do. Remember some unfavorable suggestion may really cause trouble to us eve if it may in fact have nothing to do with us.
So, to realize our goal whether it’s small or great, we need a definite object, be sure to make it definite. Then we need a confidence to believe we ourselves have the ability t o get that goal and at last we need favorable suggestion to encourage ourselves.
We all want to be successful, including myself, but when we make efforts, remember the secret of rose garden and the secret to be successful.
Let’s believe in it and try our best to change our life.
Thank you very much.

Who Moved My Cheese?
Dear judges and honorable guests,
Good afternoon!
I’m so glad to make a presentation here and my topic is “Who Moved My Cheese?”
It’s a popular story in modern society which you may hear of.
There are four heroes in the story: two little mice, two little men, and it happened in a maze. Everyday, the four creatures went to the maze to look for cheese. Finally, they all found enough cheese, the little men fully enjoyed its food without thinking about anything; while the mice paid attention to the change every moment, they found cheese became less and less.
So at last when all cheese disappeared, they were not surprised, they continued to look for new food. While the little men got quite sad and confused, and they did nothing but complained.
I think now you’ve got the main idea of this story. Changes can take place anytime, anywhere, if we want to keep our status or to make a progress, we need learn to cope with change. We can not assume we’ll hold present forever.
We should confess life is always changeable. More and more unstable factors appear in our life. Compared with the past, nowadays, people are easier to lose jobs; love is easier to be hurt. It seems someone moves our cheese. In fact, that’s not surprising at all. You know, change will become worse if we don’t notice from the very beginning.
So, dear friends, keep alert to change all the time, I believe you will certainly get your own cheese.
Please remember: Move with the cheese and enjoy it!
I love this Star of Outlook English Talent Competition !
